Successful freelancing with Flash & Flex:
Fernando Colaco

After a few years of freelancing, and with everything going really well now, in my session I share a compilation of little (and not so little) things that were mostly learned by trial and error.

From business administration to dealing with clients, discipline (you’ll need a lot), time management, legal headaches, self-promotion and my best advice of what to do, but specially what NOT to do, in different situations and in specific kinds of projects.

The idea is to provide everyone a better overview of what might not be so easy, what might be simpler than imagined, or, for actual freelancers, share some experiences and advice that can always be useful.

Please register to this event: this event is free but registration is required.

Meeting AUGG: Mardi 3 février 2009

Sunday, January 25th, 2009

” In this presentation, I will introduce you a research topic whose popularity is increasing : HAPTICS.
Haptics (from greek (Haphe) : to touch) is the touch simulation in Virtual Reality.
This is done by the mean of specific peripherals allowing the user to feel forces or vibration, which increase the realism.
A Force Feedback joystick or a steering wheel enter in this category, but I can also cite more advanced device like the Haptic Workstation that we have at EPFL (see the picture).

I will deal with:

  • 3D Virtual Environments: how to create (program) them, and display them (on a screen, a HMD, a CAVE).
  • Haptic devices: I will give a description of the hardware devices, presenting the specifications, etc.
  • Haptic Applications: how to manipulate objects in a Virtual Environment as if it was the reality, what are the challenges, the issues, and the solutions ? What will it bring in the future ?

I will be pleased to answer any questions that you can have about 3D graphics or Virtual Reality. “

Renaud Ott.

A la fin de la conférence, je vous exposerai brièvement le nouvel outil mis à disposition par ADOBE pour les User groups.

Et vous convierai à partager pizzas et limoncellos.

Salutations,

Thierry
